When contrast filters are applied in Photoshop, additional details can easily be seen: The soil surrounding the “creature” is slightly darker, suggesting it came up from below the surface. The “skin” of the creature appears more varied in texture — similar to an echinoderm (spiny, like a sea star, but does not appear to be radially symmetrical) or more likely an exoskeleton. There is an obvious dark spot on the “front” — is it an open mouth?
